Why does an electron spin 1/2 need two full rotations instead of one to return to its original state?

Source:

"The reason electrons have to turn around twice is because an electron doesn't represent a little ball of matter, it represents the rotation of an object and the surrounding space that connects it to the universe.

Let's represent this space by six belts, coming in from each axis direction. How do you rotate the central object, while keeping it connected to the surrounding space?"
